Charity of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Sunday, March 24, 2002,
at Holy Family Convent.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002,
at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian
Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem with burial to follow
at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Dec. 5, 1912 in Garden, Michigan, daughter of the late
Joseph and Elizabeth Lambert Des Rochers. Sister Bernice earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. She entered
the convent in 1929 and professed her vows in 1932. Sister Bernice
served as an elementary teacher and/or principal at St. Mary,
Rhinelander, Sacred Heart, Sherwood, St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay, Holy
Rosary, Kewaunee, St. Peter, Ashton, St. Mary, Bloomington, St. Agnes,
St. Philip, Green Bay and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. Since 1998,
she has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister,
Sister Josepheda Des Rocher, OSF, Manitowoc; a brother-in-law, Robert
Berg, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc, where a prayer service will be held 7 p.m.
