Sister Wilma Des Rochers, 69, a member of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Saturday morning, August 1, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Convent. The Rev. Julian Resch, O.Praem, officiated and burial was in the convent cemetery.
Sister Wilma was born Wilma Des Rochers Aug. 12, 1911, at Gladstone, Mich., daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Lambert Des Rochers. She entered the Order of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1927 and professed her vows in 1931. She obtained a masters degree in English and Latin and served the community as a teacher at Oshkosh, Appleton, Kewaunee, Rice Lake, Manitowoc, Rhinelander, Maple Grove, Sturgeon Bay and Holy Family Academy, Manitowoc, Wis.; Chicago, Ill; Santa Barbara, Calif.; Zanesville, Ohio, and Linsay and West Point, Neb.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, a brother, Dorian Des Rochers of DePere and three sisters, Sister Bernice Des Rochers and Sister Josepheda Des Rochers of Manitowoc and Mrs. Robert Berg of DePere.
Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, was in charge of arrangements.
