Christian Charity, died on Wednesday morning, May 5, 2010, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc.
The former Mary Rita Flavin was born on Nov. 14, 1924, in Delaware, Ohio,
daughter of the late Martin and Genevieve (Griffin) Flavin. She entered the
Convent in 1942, and professed her vows in 1945. Sister Miriam Genevieve earned
a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc, and a Master of
Science Degree from Notre Dame University, Notre Dame, Ind. Sister Miriam
Genevieve served as a teacher at: St. Therese, Appleton; St. Francis, Hollandtown;
Sacred Heart, Manitowoc; Catholic Memorial High School, Waukesha; Silver Lake
College, Manitowoc; St. Willibrord High School, Chicago, Ill.; St. Francis Xavier
High School, Petoskey, Mich.; Guernsey Catholic Central, Cambridge, Ohio; and
Bishop Amat High School, LaPuente, Calif. She also served as Director of Human
Resources at the Motherhouse and Coordinator of the Western Region from 1973-1979
in West Covina, Calif. After retirement from active ministry, she performed a
variety of tasks at Holy Family Convent including annalist. Since 1999, she had
been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of
the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev.
Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc,
from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at
Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
