Came to the US in 1839 at the age of 18. After working in Ohio for 6 years he moved to Memphis in 1845. One year latter he started a small grocery which over the years grew and became the wholesale firm of J.F. Frank & CO. At the time of his death he owned vast tracts of land in West Tn and Arkansas, real estate holdings in Memphis and was a millionaire. A true American success story.
