Clayton E. Litwiller, 72, of Milton, Iowa, died at 9:35 p.m. at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, March 11, 1996.

He was born October 22, 1923, in Hopedale, IL. He married Ada M. Goeken March 2, 1947 in Green Valley, Illinois, she survives.

He was a farmer most of his life and worked for Beals Iron Works of Green Valley, IL. He served in WWII in the Marines with the 1st division, serving in the Solomon islands as a replacement and was part of the landing at Okinawa in the Pacific Campaign. He was a member of Russell Strait Post No. 483 of the American Legion of Milton, IA. He was affliated with the Grace United Methodist Church of Milton, IA.

He is survived by his wife of Milton, IA., one daughter, Connie Myszkowski of Romney, Indiana, and one son, Dr. Randall Liwiller of Roanoke, IL., and six grandchildren: four sisters, Clara Harman of Goshen, Indiana, Ruth Imhoff of Metamora, IL., Lila Harman of Alma, Texas, and Velma Wiebe of Rockford, IL., and one brother, Elmer Litwiller of Hopedale, IL.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Oliver Litwiller and two sisters, Alice Litwiller and Dora Eichelberger.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 1996 at the Hopedale Mennonite Church in Hopedale, IL. Burial was in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan, IL, with military rites.

A memorial has been established to the Russell Strait Post No. 483 of the American Legion in Milton, Iowa.

Henkenius-Priester Funeral Home, Bloomfield, was in charge of arrangements.
