She was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Princeton, Ky., to Luther and Lennis Dankes Cleaves, who preceded her in death. On Jan. 10, 1942, she married Paul L. Panning, who died March 13, 1987.
Mrs. Panning had worked at the former Sylvania GTE Co., Ottawa. In previous years, she had worked at St. Marys Foods, Delphos. She was a member of the Vaughnsville United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of the church. She loved visiting and being with her many friends and family, and especially enjoyed all of the good times with her friend, Lorraine. She will be missed by all her friends and family.
Survivors include three sons, Vincent R. Panning, of San Diego, Paul L. (Vicky) Panning, of Oregon, and Larry L. (Julie) Panning, of Van Wert; five daughters, Norma (Dave) Rowlands, of Flagstaff, Ariz., Paulette Youngberg, of Portland, Ore., Irene Keller, of Glandorf, Brenda (Richard) Recker, of Ottawa, and Arlene Cameron, of Oregon; two brothers, Cecil (Sue) Cleaves, of Weston, and Patrick Cleaves, address unknown; a sister, Nancy (Bill) Arther, of California; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Bernita (Al) Nighswander, of Leipsic; and a brother-in-law James (Janet) Moore, of Findlay.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta and Effe; a brother, William; and a great-grandson, Rhovin Almonte.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. The Rev. Tom Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Vaughnsville Cemetery.
