the following comes from Find a Grave contributor Steve Hanken: George W. Daniels, 20th Iowa Infantry Co. I, enlisted at age 19. Residence Cedar Rapids, nativity Pennsylvania. Enlisted Aug. 9, 1862. Mustered Aug. 22, 1862. Wounded slightly Dec. 7, 1863 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Discharged for disability Feb. 23, 1868 in Springfield, MO.

*There was a George Daniels living near Linn Junction, Iowa who was accidentally killed by his stepson, Frank (Francis) Winney/Vinney on Sept. 3, 1885.

CORONER'S INQUEST FOR THE YEAR.
George W. Daniels was killed by being shot dead by Francis Winney, in a quarrel, on the morning of September 3d, 1885, at his residence about five miles northwest from Cedar Rapids, in Clinton township. He was a native of Pennsylvania, was 42 years old and a farmer by occupation.
