Services for Ethel N. Whitmire will be at 11:30 a.m. today in Meeks Mortuary. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling at the mortuary will be before services today.
Mrs. Whitmire, 87, 817 N. Mulberry St., died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Whitmire was born in Muncie and was a lifelong resident of Delaware County. She attended Muncie schools.
Survivors include four sons, Dave Cooper, Billy Whitmire, Richard Whitmire, and Roy Whitmire, all of Muncie; four daughters, Jerry Thornbro (husband: Harold), Mary Victory (husband: Paul), and Dixie Smith (husband: Jack), all of Muncie, and Martha Upchurch (husband: Bill), Losantville; a sister, Mary Jane Pumphrey, Muncie; a granddaughter with whom she made her home, Cindy Smith; and 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was the widow of John W. Whitmire; she was also preceded in death by three grandsons.
