Paul S. Wurtz of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away early Monday, October 1, 2012, at his home. Age 90 years. He was born September 9, 1922, in Naperville, Illinois, to Rev. S. R. and Emma (Zimowske) Wurtz. He married Donna Hether in June of 1946 in Brown City; she survives him. He was a licensed funeral director and was employed by W. L. Case & Company for 32 years, retiring in 1987. Paul was an active member of Ames United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He served with the US Army during World War II in the 33rd Division, 136 2nd Battalion, HQ Co. Paul and Donna enjoyed traveling and taking many vacations together. He is survived by his wife, Donna; two children and their spouses, Amber L. Lange (Charles), Montrose; and Gregory L. Wurtz (Julie), Freeland; grandchildren, Charles (Denice) Lange, Jeffrey (Kim) Lange, and Aimee L. (Sam) Wardin; eight great-grandchildren, Travis, Abby, Cole, Brenden, Brooklyn and Carson Lange, Laini and Loretta Wardin; one brother and one sister, William (Harriet) Wurtz, and Hope (Keith) Haley; many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Ames United Methodist Church, 801 State Street. Rev. Mark Karls will officiate. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery, Brown City. His family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and then at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
