Mr. Hopkins, a retired clerk for the U.S. Treasury Department and former manager of the United Seamen's Center, died Saturday in a local convalescent home. He was 81.
Born in Kearney, Neb., June 24, 1894, Mr. Hopkins served in World War I before coming to Portland in 1928.
He is survived by his wife, Violet; son Donn, Fairbanks, Alaska; and one nephew.
