DRACUT -- Eleanor F. (Fling) Rogers, 83, of Dracut, died at home Saturday September 29, 2012 surrounded by her close knit family.
Mrs. Rogers was born December 31, 1928 in the city of Lawrence, the daughter of George and Severine (Legendre) Fling. She was formerly employed as a Telephone Operator with New England Tel. and Tel.
Eleanor attended St. Laurence O'Toole grammar school and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. A longtime Methuen resident, she had moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida prior to moving to Dracut.
Eleanor was an enthusiastic sports fan and enjoyed all Boston sports, most especially the Boston Red Sox. Friends and family will long remember her many talents including upholstering, furniture fixing, knitting and sewing. She enjoyed reading and spending summers at Little Island Pond in Pelham, New Hampshire and with a smile, she is amusingly remembered as a "card shark."
Perhaps nearest and dearest to Eleanor's heart, however, was her deep faith. She prayed daily keeping God in the forefront of each day.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Marshall J. Rogers, Sr.; her children, Marshall J. Rogers, Jr. and his wife, Terry of Dracut, John M. Rogers and his companion, Eileen Broadhurst of Bradford, Linda Sickorez and her husband, Paul of Amesbury, Brian C. Rogers of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Julie C. Holleran and her husband, Michael of Methuen;
11 grandchildren, Christine, Alison, Debbie, Eric, Nicole, Kara, Mark, Cori, Jessica, Emily and Camille; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was predeceased by her brother, George F. Fling.
ROGERS -- Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Eleanor's life by gathering for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Rd., Dracut at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Newmarket, NH. Friends will be warmly received in the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
