Dolores D. Hayes, 80, of Marinette, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 29, 1929, the daughter of the late Frank and Tillie (Brezsko) Sotka.
Dolores resided in the Menominee - Marinette area most of her life. She worked at Wells Lumber Co. and was the manager of the M & M Credit Union.
She then went into farming with her husband at the family farm "Hayes Hog Haven".
Dolores was an avid community volunteer which included Easy Does It Women's Club, Girl Scout leader, school hot lunch monitor, Peshtigo Food Pantry founder and was a Foster Mother to many, many children. She enjoyed her farm animals, crafts and making afghans for her family.
Dolores is survived by her husband, Don;
her daughters: Debbie Powers and Patti (Dean) Spencely, both of Charleviox, Mich. and Cindy Powers of Marinette, Wis.;
her stepdaughter: Diane (Ray) Brabent;
her sons: Michael (Connie) Powers, Terry (Peggy) Powers, Ric Powers, Donald (Lisa) Hayes Jr. and Daniel (Dawn) Hayes, all of Marinette, Wis.;
19 grandchildren, one great-grandchild;
a sister, Jeannette Haymeister of Hillsboro, Wis.;
special friends: Debbie & Danny Rodgers and Darrel & Dawn LaPlant.
Besides her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn LaCanne.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father Ralph Merkatoris will be officiating. Burial will be in Peshtigo Riverside Cemetery.
