Jane Bigley Williams, resident of Memphis died March 8, 2011, at The Pointe at Kirby Gate Retirement Center in Memphis where she had been a resident for over four years. She was 90 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Private Graveside Services for Mrs. Williams were conducted at the Oakwood Cemetery in Brownsville, Tennessee, and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Brownsville, Mrs. Williams was born on February 21, 1921. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Bigley and Bertha Pittman Bigley. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of the Haywood County Public School System and from the Jackson Business College. She was employed for over 30 years as a Civil Service employee representing the United States Department of Immigration.
A Christian, she enjoyed many outdoor activities that included various sports, sailing, and professional football. In earlier years, Mrs. Williams fascination and interest in aircraft prompted her to enjoy flying instructions.
Survivors of Mrs. Williams include a special cousin, Jean K. Cobb, a former resident of Somerville who now resides in Collierville.
