Sister Janice Chervenak, age 84, a member of The Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at Holy Family
Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem with burial
at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Susan Chervenak was born July 17, 1917, in Byesville, Ohio,
daughter of the late John and Anna Bogdanik Chervenak. Sister Janice
earned a bachelor of arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc.
She entered the convent in 1932 and professed her vows in 1936. Sister
Janice served as a teacher at St. Mary, Brillion; Holy Innocents and St.
Boniface, both of Manitowoc; St. Anthony, Marinette; St. Mary,
Rhinelander; St. John, Antigo; St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay; St. Joseph,
Kellnersville; St. Andrew, Potosi; St. Joseph, Waukesha; St. John the
Baptist, Plymouth; St. Mary, Algoma; St. Peter, Middleton; St. Nicholas,
Zanesville; St. Agnes, Mingo Junction; St. Sylvester, Woodsfield, all of
Ohio; and Guardian Angel, West Point, Neb. After her retirement from the
teaching profession, she performed various tasks at St. Benedict,
Cambridge, Ohio; and Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Since March 2001,
she has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse.
She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister,
Agnes Twark, Centerville, Ohio; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, from
4 to 8 p.m. Monday where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy
Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
