One of the seventeen children of Joseph and Mary Schreiner.
Children of Joseph and Mary; Elizabeth, Mary, Joseph, Charles, Veronica, Sophie, Agnes, Bernard, Rose, Victor, Anna, Leonard, Othmar, Beatrice,Robert, Herbert and Leander/"Jack".

Sister Hermengild Brandel, age 95, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2000, at
Holy Family convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem, with burial in Holy Family
Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Marie Brandel was born May 14, 1905 in LaFayette, Minn. daughter of the
late Joseph and Mary Schreiner Brandel. Sister Hermengild earned a
Bachelor of Science Degree from Michigan State Normal College and a
Master of Arts Degree from Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Mich.
She entered the convent in 1920 and professed her vows in 1923. Sister
Hermengild served as an elementary teacher and/or principal at St.
Francis, Hollandtown, St. Andrew, Potosi, St. Peter, Ashton, Holy
Rosary, Kewaunee, Wis.; St. Anne, Escanaba, St. John, Menominee, St.
Ambrose, Ironwood, Mich.; St. Benedict, Cambridge, St. Mary, Delaware,
and St. Sylvester, Woodsfield, Ohio. She retired to Holy Family Convent
in 1987 and has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the
Motherhouse since 1990.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; one
sister, Anne Ebert, Manitowoc; 3 brothers and 5 sisters-in-law and a
brother-in-law, Omar and Grace Brandel, Herbert and Arline Brandel,
Manitowoc, Jack Brandel, Coloumbus, Ohio, Marcella Brandel, Margaret
Gries, Manitowoc, Rita Brandel, Columbus, Ohio, Paul Steeber, Manitowoc;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 4, 2000, from 4-8 p.m. at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. at
Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting with funeral arrangements.
