William C O'Donnell Funeral Today
Hatfield – William C O'Donnell, 60, of 40 Elm St, husband of Aileen (O'Brien) O'Donnell, died at Cooley Dickinson Hospital Saturday morning following a long illness.
Born June 7 1918, he was the son of the late George and Ella (Larkin) O'Donnell.
He was a graduate of Wilbraham Academy, Amherst College and Columbia Law School. A captain in the Marine Corps Reserve, he served in the corps during World War II. For his gallant action in the Iwo Jima assault, he was awarded a silver star.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son at home; a daughter at home, a brother, George of New York, three sisters, Mary of New York, Katherine of Northampton and Mrs G Vernon Bentley of Pennsylvania.
The funeral will be today at 8 at the Reynolds funeral home with a Mass in St Joseph's Church at 9. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Northampton.
