Norbert Ellis, age 73 of Sandstone, passed away on Sept. 22, 2012 at his home.
Norbert Lee Ellis was born on May 18, 1939 in Austin, Minn. to George and Laura (Ackerman) Ellis.
He graduated from Austin High School in 1958, and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962.
Norbert married Judith Bauer on Feb. 8, 1964 in Austin. During his life he worked a variety of jobs which included, carpentry, roofing and while living in Rochester he worked at the Mayo Clinic, did factory work when he lived in Cedar Rapids, Minn., and after moving to Sandstone his occupations were in farming and recycling. Norbert enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and his son Tim.
Norbert is survived by his wife Judy; sons Ted (April) Ellis and Troy (Anne) Ellis; daughter Tammy (Rob) Sweeney; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters Betty Jane Walrath of Missouri, Carol Brecht of Hinckley; brothers Rodney Ellis of Hinckley, Paul Ellis of Austin, Raymond Ellis of Dexter, Minn., and Mark Ellis of Hinckley.
Funeral Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at Methven Funeral Home, Sandstone. Visitation Tuesday 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to services. Interment at Clover Cemetery, Hinckley, MN with Full Military Honors by Hinckley Honor Squad.
