Mr. Eckerd died Wed. morning, July 13, 1988 at the Provincial House Nursing Home in Tawas City. Age 80. He was born Jan. 6, 1908 in Bloonfield, Iowa, where he attended schools. He Married the former Sarah Mae Childs in Bay City, July 31, 1934. She Died June 24, 1962. He worked for the Penn Central Railroad in Kawkawlin for may years as a lineman, retiring in 1967. He was a former member of the Bay City Moose Lodge No. 169. Surviving are 3 sons and their wives: Russell and Lauri Eckerd, Richard and Barbara Eckerd, all of Bay City; Clifford and Judy Eckerd of Tawas City; 3 daughters and their husbands: Lillie and Robert Keller and Joanne Eckerd, all of Bay City; Ruth and Allen Butzein of Linwood; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 daughter in law; Shirley Eckerd of Bay City. He was processed by 2 sons; Frank and Lawrence and 1 daughter, Mary Lou Eckerd and 1 grandson Franklin Eckerd. Funeral Services will take place Friday, July 15, 1988 at 3 p.m. from the Ware-Smith_Woolever & Co. Funeral Homes, Squires Chapel. Rev. Kenneth L. Hoard will officiate with burial in Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Kawkawlin. Friends may call at the funeral home today until 9 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
