Graveside services for Lessie Roberts Rainey will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Joyner officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rainey, 88, of Meridian, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital.

Survivors include her son, James Danny "JD" Rainey and his wife, Karen, of Meridian; grandchildren, Jeffery A. Rainey and his wife, Sonya, of Philadelphia, Lara S. Simpkins and her husband, Fred, of Japan, and Georgina G. LoBue and her husband, Jarid, of Plaquemine, La.; great-grandchildren, Sara Grace LoBue, Isabella Maria LoBue, Katelyn Grace Rainey and Christian Simpkins; sisters, Cora McCarra, of Cuba, Ala., Claudine Flowers, Vergie McCarra, Lutie Barnett and Adell Morgan, all of Meridian and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. "Odell" Rainey; a sister, Ruth Ann Ceaser; brothers, Jonsey Roberts, Dan Roberts and Wesley E. Roberts Jr.

You can check out the attached census on her memorial where she and her husband are listed in 1930 having only one son.

Ella Jane Jones Roberts didn't marry Mr. Roberts until after her husband, Stanley McLendon, died in 1936.

Steven James Coker (FIND A GRAVE ID 47077092) did not thoroughly research this family when he sent you the edit for Cora's parents.

Actually, he sent the wrong edit to EVERY memorial for the children of Wesley Evenue Roberts and Ella Jane Privitt / Privett ... including one to me.

You can see that I added the census where the family of Wesley Evenue Roberts and Ella Privitt / Privett Roberts can be located onto the memorial for Ella Privitt / Privett Roberts.

This includes the 1930 census which is contrary to the 1930 census for Stanley McLendon and his wife, Ella Jane Jones Roberts. (The same Ella could not have been in both census on the same year to two different husbands.)

When looking at the transcribed census records on ancestry, a computer generated match, lumped both of the Ella women together if you look over to the left to see where else they are located. That's probably why Steven James Coker (FIND A GRAVE ID 47077092) got confused. Sometimes people are smarter than computers. LOL

My edit can be easily verified by checking out the census records.
