Composer. He was the son of composer Alexander Scriabin, who gave him his first piano lessons. After his father's death in 1915 Julian began composing seriously and was considered to be a prodigy. He drowned in a boating accident at the age of 11. Julian Scriabin's precocious "Four Preludes" for piano survive; the pieces have been recorded several times and are available on CD.
