Mentioned as daughter of Edward Messenger (possibly the brother of Andrew Messenger of Jamaica, Long Island, NY), who resided, at least for a time, in the Brooklyn area of Long Island, NY (according to Helen S. Ullman's Book: "Descendants of Peter Mills".

It is suggested that Dorcas married Peter in 1666, in Windsor, CT. Though I see no documentation to prove this location for the marriage definitively.

It is also possible that Peter Mills, husband of Dorcas Messenger Mills, most likely was in the same area...and perhaps met Dorcas there. Documentation has not come to light, in my research, to prove this without a doubt.

Inscription

No stone exists as, according to local historical society information, the area of these early graves was covered with fill dirt many years later to level the ground. The grave would have been immediately behind the present Congregational Church located at the SE corner of the cemetery.

Gravesite Details

Palisado Cemetery is listed as that is where her husband, Peter Mills, was laid to rest...and she, no doubt, was, too.
