OBITUARY:
"Roy Smith Beard, 91, 501 Cedar Drive, New Castle, died at the Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle after a brief illness. He was retired from Chrysler Corp. His parents were Paul and Sarah(sic) Beard. His wife, Hazel Fern Gilpin, died in 1977. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Byron (Mary Ellen) Pfenninger, New Castle, and Dora Fowler, Liberty, S.C.; one son, Paul Beard, Waukesha, Wisc.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews of the deceased reside in Jay County. Burial was in South Mound Cemetery at New Castle, IN."
