Babette Heer-Baer was born June 10, 1841, in Reichenberg, Baiern, Germany, and died Sept. 29, 1899, of paralysis of the heart. Mrs. Baer was married to John Baer Jan. 26, 1868. They came to this country in June of 1881, and settled in Clay county, where she resided up to her death. Mrs. Baer was the mother of twelve children, six of whom died in their infancy.
She received very good religious training at home and in the Mennonite church. Having come here she joined the German M. E. church, during the pastorate of Rev. H. M. Menger. Mrs. Baer was very highly respected by all who knew her, in and out of the church. She was a quiet, peaceable, meek, sweet character--a true, loving, devoted wife and mother, a true Christian in whom was no guile. Her memory is blessed, because her works and influence do follow her.
The funeral services were held in the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Jungmeyer. The attendance was very large. The deceased leaves husband, six children, a brother and other relatives who mourn her departure--death.
