Little is known about John Robert Moore. Only three photos are known to exist. Family Bible records indicate his parents as Margaret (often noted as Mary) Rebecca (nee Boyd) and Samuel Douglas Moore. This Moore family migrated from South Carolina to Tipton County, Tennessee and is often found crossing back and forth the border into Arkansas.

In October 2013 an extensive search was conducted to locate his headstone. The local government was unable and unwilling to help find it. A private local historian assisted with the burial location, yet no headstone was found. This is not a cemetery that is well maintained. The grass grows rather tall before it is cut. It is presumed that over time the earth and grass covered the stone so that it is no longer visible. This researcher prodded the ground with a steel rod in attempt to locate the stone, to no avail. He is supposedly buried just Northwest of daughter Ethel.

John Robert Moore is enumerated in the 1880 Tipton County, TN census, District 6.

His 7 Feb 1897 marriage to Mary Lenora Jolly is depicted in the St.Francis County, AR marriage records.

He is enumerated in the 1900 St.Francis County, AR census, in Franks Township.

He is enumerated in the 1910 Nevada County, AR census, in Albany Township.

In 1918 records show him residing in Nevada County, AR census, in Mt. Moriah.

He is enumerated in the 1920 Nevada County, AR census, in Albany Township.

He is enumerated in the 1930 Pittsburg County, OK census, in Hartshorne.

He left his wife in Hartshorne sometime after 1930 to live in Greenwood, MS to live near some of his other children. His son Dewey and daughter Ethel lived there. Ethel was finishing school. He most likely died in Greenwood and was buried in Itta Bena, MS. For a brief time, John lived with his daughter Ethel. John Moore died while living with Ethel.
