DAVID ARTHUR ASHBY, Jr., 87 Polk County School Board LAKELAND - Mr. David Arthur Ashby Jr., 87, died Friday, March 16, 2007 of dementia. Born on December 8, 1919 in Owensboro, Kentucky, he moved to Lakeland from Memphis, Tennessee in 1969. Mr. Ashby was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran Bombardier and Navigator, obtaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was a mechanical engineer with Agrico Williams Co. and C.F. Industries and also worked for the Polk County School Board.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty K. Ashby of Lakeland; son, David L. Ashby of Denton, TX; daughter, Dr. Andrea Elaine Ashby, M.D. of Berkley, CA; grandchildren, Peter Ashby, Emily Ashby, and Mark Ashby all of Denton, TX.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
