Sgt. Charles J. Webb died in the 31st Combat Support Hospital, from wounds sustained earlier that day when an improvised explosive device detonated in Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to the 82nd Engineer Battalion, 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized), Bamberg, Germany.

Charles was the son of Conley and Barbara (Howard) Webb of Alexandria, AL. He was a 2000 graduate of Hamilton High School and served with the United States Army for the last four years. He was married to Stephanie Ryan on September 16, 2000.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two sisters, Teresa Webb of Dayton, OH and JoAnna (Eric) Davis of Alexandria, AL; eight nieces, Barbara, Laura, LeAnn, Jade, Emma, Jasmine, Kendal and Hannah; and five nephews, Tyler, Dilion, Dillion, Shawn and Matthew; best friend, Specialist Anthony Williams of Hamilton with the US Army and a number of other relatives and friends.
