"Based on the obit for Israel O. Enders from Harrisburg Patriot, 11 Jun 1917, the 1890 Veterans’ Census, and the Pension Index Card from Fold3, Israel served in the 6th U.S. Cavalry, Company/Troop E after the Civil War. Technically, he wasn’t a Civil War soldier, although his pension was filed under the Civil War pension laws and I think he would have been eligible to join the G.A.R."
