After moving from Kentucky to Cherokee County, Texas, William Martin in 1846 married Carmelita (nee Rutherford) Bean. Carmelita was a widow of Mr. Bean and then married William Martin. Carmelita had one son, Joseph Bean, from her marriage to Mr. Bean.
