Marilyn Florence May, 88, died at Mercy Hospice in Johnston on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from congestive heart failure.

Marilyn was born on October 14, 1923 to George and Florence (Becklund) Ek in Worcester, MA. She married David R. May on April 11, 1945 in Worcester and later moved to Iowa. There the couple raised their family and lived in many communities before retiring to Guthrie Center. She moved to Ankeny in 1995. Marilyn was a homemaker, enjoyed her family, socializing with friends, traveling and loved music and the theatre.

Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Dick) Bloedorn of Lake Wales, FL and Lorna (Randy) Keeling of Clarion, IA; two sons, Kenneth (Alice) May of Georgetown, TX and Paul (Janice) May of Ankeny six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David and great-grandson, Cory Heck.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 29 in the Chapel at Mill-Pond Retirement Community, in Ankeny. Refreshments will be provided in the dining room following the service. Entombment will be at Guthrie Center Cemetery.
