A son of Henry Theus & Mary Windham; 1 of 6 brothers who served in Company C, 59th Georgia.

Company C "Arthur Greys" of Taylor County, 59th Georgia Infantry "Sidney Johnstons", G.T. Anderson's Brigade, Field's Division, 1st Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Enlisted on 8 May 1862 at Butler, Taylor County, for 3 years or the (duration of) war, he was mustered into Company C, 59th Georgia Infantry.
Present on all rolls until May & June 1864 Roll, when mortally wounded through the lungs by gunshot on 5/13/1864, while alongside his brother William H. Theus during the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House.
Died in General Hospital Camp Winder, Richmond, VA.; left $6.00 in personal effects.

The 59th Infantry Regiment was formed in the spring of 1862 with men from Jackson, Whitfield, Crawford, Worth, and Turner counties.
