Zoe R. Smith, 87, Liberty, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Visitation 10 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Zoe was born July 19, 1924, in Bowen, Mo., to Schley and Hazel Nichols. Zoe married Maxie Smith in 1953 and had three children, Glenna, Gary and Marsha. Zoe was preceded in death by her husband Maxie Smith, grandson, Matthew Allen Thorne and her brother, William Nichols. She is survived by her children, Glenna Thorne (Art), Winter Haven, Fla., Gary Smith (Patty), KCMO, and Marsha Christensen, Liberty; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; brother, Robert Nichols (Nobuie), California, sister, Clorine Donaldson and numerous nieces and nephews.
