"Golden memories of Mrs. W. L. Hayley"

This photo was made at the grave of my dear companion, W. Larkin Hayley, who died June 1-1949. If he had lived until June 28th, we would have passed our 50th wedding Ann. He said a few days before death called, "I tried, but I just can't make the 50 yrs. Together". On Sun. before the 28th, I finished gold and white flowers for alter of Meth. Church of Snyder, TX. Also placed on his grave a beautiful chenille wreath, in pastel colors with "Golden memories" in letters of gold. Early Mon. Miss Zona McMullan took me to cemetery-we placed the flowers on grave and took snapshots-wind was so high, they would hardly stay on grave long enough to make snapshots. Early on June 28th, I wrote 4 checks, one for each minister, as a love offering, who took part in the beautiful funeral service, which was such a consolation. Then Mrs. W. W. Adcock & 3 children & I went to Lubbock to see my Dr. Then Annie Parker went on with us to Hale Center, where we had nice visits with our old friends, Mrs. J. J. Candle & Aunt Millie Townsend. This was a sad day but enjoyed the sympathetic consolation of all these dear ones. A far different day from the one we had anticipated the year before-for had planned a Lg. Celebration inviting all our friends. Surely God knows best: I have so many beautiful Golden Memories or our happy life together, Mrs. Ethel Pearce Hayley.
