Muriel worked for many years in Dallas, Texas for Great American Reserve Insurance Company and retired from there leaving behind numerous wonderful colleagues and good friends. She returned to Emory where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a faithful member of Emory United Methodist Church for many years.
Remaining to mourn her loss are her brothers Billy Bob Cheek of Greenville and Brevard Odell Cheek of Tyler. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, Charolyn and Clyde Sifford, Martha and Michael Hilger, Rick and Sandra Cheek, Judy and David Cook, Debbie Stanley, Johnny Robert Cheek, Mike Cheek, David Cheek and Sheryl Acker. Also cherishing her memory are many great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
Muriel was a dutiful daughter, a loyal sibling and friend, and a beloved Aunt who loved her nieces and nephews as though they were her own children. She was dearly loved by all of them. The family was blessed to have spent many happy years and occasions with her and was often sustained and comforted by her in times of great sorrow. We will continue to miss her although we have had to say goodbye for a while. We are assured that she was welcomed in Heaven by God the Father and all of her loved ones who have gone before. What a joyful day for her to see them all once again.
Graveside service is 2:00 P.M., on Monday, September 17, 2012, at the Emory Cemetery, under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
