Services for Johney Lee Caples, 96, of Lufkin, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend James Mills officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mrs. Caples was born August 25, 1916 in Wood County, Texas, the daughter of the late Nellie (Langford) and Oscar Goines. She passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Caples was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother. She moved to Lufkin at the age of 17 and worked at Memorial Medical Center for more than 30 years as a nurse. She was a great Christian woman and was a member of Victory Assembly of God. Mrs. Caples was loved and appreciated by all who knew her.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Sue Caples of Georgia and Billy and Evelyn Caples of Oklahoma; daughter, Sandra McLaren of Lufkin; daughters-in-law, Jackie Caples of Conroe and Janet Caples of Minnesota; sister, Mary Bell of Lufkin; brother, Talmadge Goines of Beaumont; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Caples was preceded in death by her sons, Charles Caples and Jimmy Caples; and grandson, Jason Caples.
Services placed in trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
