Donald passed away at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque. He was predeceased by his wife Susan Prince; 3 children: Richard, Pamela, and Donald Prince Jr.; and grandson Bryan Minton.

Donald was survived by the mother of his children and first wife, Patsy Prince; daughters: Jackie Teal (husband Jim Teal), Regina Minton, Shiloh Molina (husband Christopher Molina), and Ashlee Prince; son Michael Prince; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Donald was a beloved father and grandfather. He proudly served first with the U.S. Air Force as Airman 1st class. Then he joined the U.S. Navy and served with Special Operations-Navy Seals as an underwater demolition expert for 3 years, until he was severely injured. He separated from the armed forces as a highly decorated veteran. He received 16 commendations including the Purple Heart. He also served as a patrol officer for the Clovis Police Department from 1963-1969.
