Violet was born in Walker Minn. Nov. 4, 1919 to August and Lydia Anderson (from Sweden). She spent her early years in Minn. with her brother and sister, Paul and Ingaborg Erickson. Vi graduated from Walker High school in 1936 & Business College in 1938. She met her future husband, Arthur Lien, while he was in the CCC's just before WWII. They were married April 1942 in North Hollywood, California. They had their first home and first child, Dewain, while they lived in California. 1943 they returned to North Dakota to help his ill brother with the farming. A second son was born to them, Dennis, while in Lakota, ND. Art received a job as a Standard Oil Bulk Agent in Niagara and so the family moved again. In 1947 a job at Boeing brought the family to Kent, Washington. There daughter Laurie, was born. Vi worked part time in real-estate, enjoyed being a homemaker, writing her memories and attending social outings. During her retirement she loved to travel and "snowbird" to Mesa, AZ. Vi lived in Kent until the death of her husband in 2007. She moved to Ellensburg September of that year to live closer to her son. Vi resided at Hearthstone cottage and enjoyed the friendship and activities there. She passed away at Royal Vista Nursing home with her family at her side.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Paul and sister Ing, son Dennis and her husband Arthur. She is survived by her son Dewain Lien (Diana), daughter Laurie Friedlander (Paul) six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She loved life and will be missed greatly by her family. She is now happily with our Lord in heaven.
A family graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Kent will be Friday April 30th followed by a memorial service at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Renton at 2:00 pm.
