Ethel Mae Dillard Turner

Mrs. Ethel Mae Dillard Turner of Newton died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 83.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Roberts and Bimbo Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Mrs. Turner's home at 4971 S. Highway 123, Ozark, March 19, 2008.
Mrs. Turner was born on March 10, 1925, in Dale County, the daughter of Joseph and Annie Drusella Creamer Dillard. Mrs. Turner was a dietician with the Ozark School System for approximately 25 years and retired from the lunchroom at D.A. Smith Middle School. She was a "born again" believer and a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart as well as Newton Senior Citizens. She truly enjoyed being a homemaker who loved needlepoint and sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a loving stepmother, Ethel Mae Turner Dillard; and, in March of 2002, her husband of 58 years, Clayton Turner; one sister, Janice Moore; and two brothers, Edward Dillard and J.C. Dillard.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda and Robert Griggs, and Teresa and Jim Bond, all of Newton; two sons, Clayton "Bimbo" and Sheri Turner, and Terry Turner, all of Newton; three sisters, Dorothy and James Herring, Susanna and Hubert Blocker, and Sharon and Walter Clark, all of Newton; one brother, Clarence Dillard, of Newton; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Turner, Robert Griggs, Bob Griggs, Kevin Bond, Stephen Turner and Jim Bond; honorary pallbearers will be Jim Johnson, Mason Turner, Colton Turner, Tanner Livingston, Cole Weed, Maddox Weed and Jake Griggs.
Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark, (334) 774-4551, is in charge of arrangements.
