Gilbert A. Bejarano, age 71 of Globe, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Kindred Phoenix Hospital. Gilbert Araujo Bejarano was born in Miami, Ariz. to Roque and Clemencia Bejarano.

He attended Bullion Plaza grade school and Miami High School. He followed in his Dad's footsteps and went to work for Miami Copper Company and stayed employed with the local copper companies until his retirement. Family and friends remember Gilbert as a passionate lover of nature who gave refuge to injured hawks, snakes, piranha, and any other animals that needed his tending.

He always kept filled water troughs for Javelina and other creatures that roamed his property. He spent countless hours with friends hunting, fishing or just enjoying the natural beauty in and around Arizona. His primary love, however, was for all of his children. Others will remember his kindness and generosity in helping those in need by driving them to the grocery store, doctors' appointments or by visiting the sick and dying.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dr. Charles Bejarano; sister Velia Rios; and his two sons Gilbert A. II, and Robbie Bejarano.

He is survived by his son Gilbert A. Bejarano, III; daughter Shana Murphy; a brother, Arthur A. Bejarano; two sisters, Mary B. Sitterley from Seattle, and Sylvia A. Russell from Phoenix; his son's mother and friend, Rosie Ortega; step-children, grandchildren, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.

Visitation was held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 844 W. Sullivan St., Miami, Ariz. Rosary followed at 9:30 a.m., with Mass at 10 a.m.

Interment at Pinal Cemetery, Central Heights.
