Aaron is a son of Conrad & Catherine (Freligh/Frolich/Frelich/Freelig) DeLong.

Aaron was born 1757-1758.

(re Aaron's birth) -in 1823, Aaron's brother, John (b. 1758/9), said he was born in Albany Township, N.Y. (New York does not have townships but he may have meant the "Town of Albany".) The third Loyalist brother, Simon in N.S., also said he was born in Albany twp. The DeLongs there originated in Dutchess County, N.Y., and were Dutch in origin (which agrees with tradition). The DeLongs in Pennsylvania were German. However, there is still a problem. John Baldwin (long time DeLong researcher) is quite clear in his statement that Conrad Delong lived in the middle of Dutchess Co. and appeared consistently on tax lists up to the mid-1770s.

Aaron DeLong Sr was a member of Loyal American Regiment(LAR) under Major Barclay's Company.

Brothers Aaron, Simon and John show in Loyalist Muster Roll commanded by Colonel Beverly Guanus- May 11,1782 (National Library of Canada in Ottawa, Canada File no 4218-c4219) as the following:
Aaron DeLong (Private) John DeLong (Private) and Simon DeLong - Major Barclay's Agent- believe he only 15 at the time.

Aaron and John came to New Brunswick in 1783-1784 on ship called "The Ann". Aaron was born in 1750 or 1757(according to "St Martins's Families- a Quaco Heritage" by David Howard.) Aaron died prior to 1851 in Millstream, New Brunswick prior to 1851 NB Census.

Aaron first lived in Gagetown after arrival in NB in 1783. By 1786/1787 he had moved to Kennebecasis River (near Gondola Point, NB) and by 1801 (probably earlier than 1799) had moved to Millstream (North of Sussex, NB). He was given a land grant at 38 Millstream, Studholm Parish, Kings Co., NB 400 acres 1809/12/11 Vol. E No 517.- (from Natural Resources- Land Grants)

Children of Aaron & Mary Kierstead DeLong:

1. Catherine DeLong b. 1789.
2. Hezekiah DeLong b. 1792.
3. Charles Gaiter DeLong b. 1795.
4. John Nesbet DeLong b. 1797.
5. Aaron DeLong Jr. b. 1799.
6. Mary Ann DeLong b. 1802.
7. Ellen/Eleanor DeLong b. 1803.
8. Hannah DeLong b. 1803.
9. David DeLong b. 1807.
10. Ester DeLong b. 1809.
11. Eliza/Elizia DeLong b. 1811.
12. William DeLong -perhaps? b. 1814-15.

In 1816 Aaron Sr. sold his land and this appears to be about the time his children started moving in different directions in the family's break up. John and Charles G. moved to Sheffield Parish and lived at Little River(aka Ripples). Hezekiah and Aaron were in St. Martins by 1820. Hezekiah married Elizabeth McCumber and lived in St Martins East. He is buried in family cemetery on this property. Across the road was his brother Aaron and Aaron's father-in-law, Jacob Berry (in the Berry Burial Ground).

Betty Andrews Storey writes in her book "Ancestors and Descendants of Simon DeLong, Loyalist" the following:
Notes for Aaron Delong, Loyalist

The descendants of John and Aaron Delong, brothers of Simon have been studied by William E. Tufts, 1500 Lassiter Terrace, Gloucester, Ontario, Canada K1J 8N4.

Letter from (the late) John D. Baldwin, 1559 Clarence Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107, dated 4 Jan 2001: In 1997 William E. Tufts, a descendant of Simon DeLong's brother Aaron of New Brunswick, located an old bible which listed nearly the full family of Conrad DeLong. The bible belonged to the son of Simon and the family group was entered on a blank page. [I think the bible entry on the family of Conrad DeLong was made by his grandson the Reverend Thomas Crane (Simon DeLong's son). Thomas might have given the Bible to his son, David DeLong, as a wedding gift as it has David and Elsie Messenger's wedding certificate and records of their children's births, marriages and deaths]. The ancestry of Simon and his brothers Aaron and John has finally been solved. All three were enlisted in the Loyal American Regiment and emigrated to New Brunswick/Nova Scotia after the Revolutionary War. The birthplace of John, Aaron and Simon is still uncertain. John disposed that he was born in "Albany Township". New York does not have townships but he may have meant the "Town of Albany". Conrad had four children baptized in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York between 1764-1760. He was the Pathmaster in Dutchess in 1770, 1771, 1772, 1774, 1776; his earmark was recorded in 1773; taxed in 1777 after which he disappears. His earmark was transferred in 1783, but the record does not say to whom. The Albany County Court records have not survived intact.

"The Loyalist Lineages of Canada 1783-1983", Aaron DeLong, L. A. R. born about 1750 New England States, died before 1844, resided at Millstream, Kings County, New Brunswick, Canada; m. 10 Nov 1788 Mary Kierstead b. 22 May 1770 Jamaica, Long Island, New York lists children and birth years. There is information on son Aaron his wife and children.
