Evelyn "Gay" Kirby Ford died at age 93 in Titusville, Florida on September 18, 2012. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 4, 1919 to parents Claude Richard and Nova Hampstead Kirby. She had one brother, Claude Ellis Kirby. Married to Marion Elmer Ford in 1940 in Knoxville, Gay was mother to three children. She had two granddaughters and five great grandchildren.
Gay is survived by her son, Thomas Marion (Ann) Ford of Merritt Island, Florida; granddaughters Deanna Dawn Ford (Greg) Nix of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, and Shari Suzanne Ford (Ken) Arms of Woodruff, South Carolina; great grandchildren Jessica Easler, Kyle Nix, Melissa Nix, Georgia Arms and Jacob Arms, all of South Carolina; nephew Gerald (Glenda) Kirby of Saunderstown, Rhode Island; and, best friend, Claudette Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia.
Gay was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her husband, her son, Nathan Richard Ford of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, and her daughter, Sandra Gay Ford of Knoxville, Tennessee. During her adventurous and full life, Gay resided in Knoxville, Tennessee; Atlanta, Georgia; Bayamon, Puerto Rico; Daytona Beach and Titusville, Florida.
Services will be held at Dale Woodward Funeral Home in Holly Hill, Florida on September 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. (viewing at 12:30 p.m.), followed by interment at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Ormond Beach, Florida.
