Dudley D. Kinney, 72, a founder of the firm of Kinney Brothers, Inc., died at 1:15 o'clock this morning in City Hospital after an illness of four months. Death was attributed to a heart condition. The body was removed to George H. Scholderer Funeral Home, 269 Chenango Street. Funeral arrangements are pending. Mr. Kinney was identified with the processing and wholesaling of dairy products in Binghamton for about 40 years. He retired from active participation in Kinney Brothers, 237-239 Water Street, in 1927. He was born Sept. 11, 1875, at Warren Center, Pa., the son of John D. Kinney, a merchant, and Amy Kinney. Dudley attended Warren Center schools and Keystone Academy, then went to New York City and engaged in the butter and egg business. He spent a short time there and then opened a grocery in Conklin Avenue. In 1908 he became the first in Binghamton to take out what was then known as a "wholesale butterman's license." In 1910, in conjunction with his brother, B. R. Kinney and the late Harry A. Niles, he organized the firm of Niles, Kinney and Co. Two years later Mr. Niles' interest was acquired by the Kinney brothers. The firm subsequently operated plants at Maine and Union Center. Mr. Kinney was a thirty-second degree Mason; a member of the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He also was active for many years in the Binghamton Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce, and belonged to the Binghamton Club, the Binghamton Country Club and the Y. M. C. A. Mr. Kinney is survived by his wife. Blanche, the former Blanche J. Morse, New Milford, Pa.; a brother, Bradley R.; a sister, Mrs. Merton Sleeper; a nephew. Rexford D. Kinney; and four nieces, Mrs. Martin W. Deyo, Mrs. Otto Robinson; Mrs. W. D. Webster, Jr.. and Miss Dorothy Sleeper, all of Binghamton. BINGHAMTON PRESS
