Elizabeth Ashcraft was born in the state of Ohio, March 19, 1843, was married to Homer Shacklett September 20, 1860. To this union were born 10 children, 8 of whom are still living: Margaret Tuttle of Omaha, Nebraska: Katherine Belville of Herman, Nebraska: Emma Frye of Tekama, Nebraska, Abby Losh of Keota, Colorado: Nanny Holt of North Platte, Nebraska and Howard, the only son, Dellie McKercher, Minnie Burcham all of Modale, Iowa were present at her beside when she died. She died at her home in Modale, Iowa November 7, 1919.
At the time of her death she was 76 years, 8 months and 18 days old.
She had been a patient sufferer for a number of years, being bed-fast for a few months before her death, and suffered untold agony, she was an old pioneer of Harrison County, a loving wife and mother.
She leaves a large circle of friends to mourn her death. Burial was at Magnolia.
