Son of Harry P. Carlon and Maude V. Phillips Carlon.

Phillip, who resided at 2430 West Eighteenth Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a sergeant with the 15th Air Force, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on August 7, 1941, prior to the war, in Trenton, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed in the manufacture of textiles and as being Single, without dependents.

Phillip was "Killed In Action" in Italy while serving as a ball-turret gunner on a B-24 Liberator Bomber and was awarded the Purple Heart.
