Mr. Woody was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem where he served as an usher. He was retired from McLean Trucking Company where he was a shop steward and a chaplain of the retirees of Local Teamster #391. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Air Force serving during World War II. In addition to his parents, Mr. Woody was preceded in death by a brother, Merrill Woody, and a sister, Nina Gray Crooks. Surviving are his wife, Edythe Dale Brawley Woody of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Robin Woody Barefoot and husband Bobby of Lewisville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Misty Plemmons and Aaron Barefoot, both of Lewisville, N.C.; five step-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, W.S. "Bill" Woody and wife Loretta of Roanoke; two stepsons, Ronald Reavis, and Michael Reavis and wife Martha, all of Statesville, N.C.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Francis Smith, Chaplain A.G. Parker and the Rev. Ed Sears officiating. Burial was in Forsyth Memorial Park.
