She was preceded in death by her husband Rick Huckaba, parents Ken and Fern Nielsen and step-daughter Kristin Armstrong.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Erin (Mike) Anderson, Heather (Russell) Fruchey, Jason (Val) Ackerson, step-son Gerald (Janelle) Huckaba, seven grandchildren, siblings John Nielsen and Jean White, and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was known by many to be a compassionate, caring friend. She loved spending time with family and friends socializing. She was known for her giving nature and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that asked. She left a legacy of afghans which she handed out as gifts to those she thought needed the extra warmth and love.
In later years, Ruth could be seen racing around town on her scooter, challenging local children to races – even winning sometimes. She loved to live life and lived it as fully as she was able.
Funeral service was held Friday, September 28, 2012, at Koops Funeral Chapel.
