Ruth Aurura Hiatt Luckau was born on April 19, 1914 to Sidney Walter Hiatt and Aurura Maria Hancock Hiatt in Salt Lake City, Utah. She died on August 19, 2008 at the age of 94.

Ruth, the youngest of four sisters, was a member of the last graduating class of LDS High School and received her teaching certificate from the University of Utah. With innate musicianship, she excelled as a soprano soloist, pianist and organist. She shared her unique flair for piano well into her 90's. She was an accomplished seamstress, and loved traveling and playing bridge. She married Rudolph Herman Luckau in 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. She lovingly supported him in his callings as bishop and mission president until his death in 1978. She fulfilled many church callings, musical and otherwise, including Relief Society President. She never lost her hunger for learning, and continually studied the scriptures and good literature. She wanted nothing more than to serve others, and allowed no one to leave her home hungry. She faced many challenges with steadfast courage and remained faithful. She now joins her ancestral pioneers and can say, with conviction, "All is well."

Ruth is survived by four of her five children: Margo (Boone) Colegrove, Linda (Ronald) Hermansen, Stephen (Natalia) Luckau, Julie (Stephen) Newton, and by her daughter-in-law, Alice G. Luckau. She leaves 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom adore her. Her youngest son, David Luckau, passed away in 2005.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 12 noon at the Winder Ninth Ward Chapel, 1475 East 4705 South. Friends and Family may call on Friday evening, August 22, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Boulevard (7700 South), and the day of the services at the Church from 11 to 11:45 a.m.
