Jazz Pianist. He was a jazz pianist and songwriter who co-wrote Frank Sinatra's first hit and performed with some of the best jazz musicians of his time, such as Fats Waller, Eddie Condon and Billie Holiday. He retired in the 1960s but returned to play on Bing Crosby's last tour in 1976 and 1977. He also performed in a concert series at New York's St. Regis hotel in 1984 that celebrated his 50 years in show business.
