Viola E. (Tolbert) Davis, age 82, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at her home in Ocala, FL. Born on January 18,1934 in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Edna (Miller) Tolbert and the wife of the late Jackson E. Davis.
Mrs. Davis is survived by three sons: James Davis (Susan) of Wellsville, PA, Jeffrey Davis of Zephyrhills, FL, Thomas Davis of Ocala, FL; three daughters: Judy Gordon (David) of Norwood, MA, Carol Davis and Jacqueline Davis both of Ocala, FL; four grandsons: Edward Davis, Lucas Gordon, Seth Gordon and Andrew Wantz and three great grandsons: Gavin, Jack and Brock Davis. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Edward M. Davis, two sisters: Marie Ahrens and Betty Doll and three brothers: George, Richard and Robert Tolbert.
Mrs. Davis was a wonderful stay at home Mom to her seven children but also found time to provide child care to other children on a regular basis. She loved gardening and reading. She was a faithful Christian and prior to her move to FL in 1980 she was a member of Pinchot Park Assembly of God Church and was a dedicated Sunday School and Bible School teacher to pre school children. After moving to Ocala, with her husband and youngest daughter, she was a “nanny” to the children of Dr. Johnny Mac and Lucy Smith, until their move to KY. During and after that time she also found even greater joy in loving and spending time with her grandsons.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, Ocala, FL or Alzheimer’s Association.
