                            DEATHS.
                              _____

Matthias Betzold, aged 76 years, died at his home in East Brainerd, on Saturday, Feb. 20th, of heart failure. Mr. Betzold had been a sufferer from heart difficulty for several years, but a severe cold brought on an acute attack which resulted in his death. The funeral services were held at the Catholic church on Monday, the 22nd, at 10 a. m., Rev. Father Lynch conducting the services, and his remains were given their last resting place in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Betzold came to this state from Cincinnati, Ohio, about 35 years ago, locating at North Prairie, Minn., where he lived many years with his family. He then removed to St. Cloud, and from there he came to this city in 1891, where he has resided since. He was a most respected and honored citizen, and his death was a great shock to his many friends. His aged wife, and four children, Mrs. H. Poppenberg, Miss Kate Betzold, and Henry Betzold, of this city, and Joseph Betzold, of St. Cloud survive him. (Brainerd Dispatch, 26 February 1897, p. 4, c. 6)
