Mr. Gower was born April 12, 1912, in Atoka County, Okla., where he attended schools through the eighth grade. He and his family then moved to California, where they picked fruit and other crops.
He married Velma Hartman in June 1934 in Nevada. Later, he became a truck driver, work he did for 40 years in California and Oregon, where he moved in 1968. He was a member of Maranatha Church.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Michael S. of Redding, Calif., Mark L. of Ninilchik, Alaska, and John D. of Klamath Falls; brother, Mac of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
